In response to the pandemic, the Worcester Children’s Chorus (WCC) staff & Board of Directors paused in-person rehearsals in March 2020. The directors quickly pivoted to provide remote rehearsals, stress-busting coffeehouses, and celebration gatherings to continue the choir season and offer continuity of our vocal community to our choristers and staff.
This fall, the WCC launched its first all on-line offering, WCC LIVE Online. This 10 week session offered weekly remote rehearsals, coffeehouses, one-on-one vocal lessons for our older choristers, a collaboration with Boston’s Handel & Haydn youth choirs, and culminated in a 2020 Fall Showcase featuring all of our choristers in pre-recorded, pre-mixed choral performances, solo offerings and testimonials from our community.
Due to the hard of work of the staff, Board of Directors and parent volunteers, WCC remains STRONG and is looking toward the future when we can join together once more to sing side-by-side* and feel the surge of joy that only choral music can bring to each of the choristers, the audiences and the world.
*All decisions to return to in-person programming will follow Center for Disease Control & Mass Department of Education guidelines as well as our Partner-in-Residence’s (Assumption University) health & safety policies.
