WCC singers are all about joy! The joy of making new friends, learning new skills, and developing our voices. When you join our WCC family, your child will receive an exceptional musical experience in a supportive environment. OUR PROGRAMS

2025-2026 Choir Season (September – May)

Weekly Rehearsals

WCC singers meet weekly throughout the school year to rehearse with their ensembles at 1 Gorham Street in Worcester. The entire chorus performs together at our holiday-themed concert in early December and our final concert in May.

Performances

Exciting collaborative performances with other choral and musical groups are important to WCC. Last year, our high school ensemble collaborated and performed with the BACHtoberfest Choir for The Complete Bach presented by Music Worcester and Worcester Chorus. Our middle school ensemble performed with Worcester Youth Orchestra and the Nashoba Valley Chorale at the 2024 Family Holiday Pops and our youngest singers took a field trip to Boston to sing with their peers from Handel + Haydn’s Youth Choruses.

Travel & Fun Events

Singers aged 12 and up enjoy a wonderful opportunity to sing with youth from all over the U.S. In June 2025, the choir travels to Cincinnati for the Queen City Choral Festival in Ohio. WCC tours approximately every 2 years.

Social events and outings are regularly scheduled to make time for fun and friendship.

  • WCC chorus members will:
  • Learn musical skills: music literacy, theory, ear training, sight singing
  • Develop valuable qualities: confidence, teamwork, discipline, self-reliance, leadership, and presentation
  • Rehearse and perform choral repertoire in a variety of styles and languages
  • Collaborate with other musical ensembles locally and beyond, through performance, touring and travel
  • Participate in community building events, including coffee houses, informal recitals, and social gatherings

Worcester Children’s Chorus has several choral ensembles, offering age-appropriate instruction for singers ranging in age from 8 through 18. Artistic staff place children appropriately based on their audition. In the younger choirs, there will be some age/grade overlap, based upon a child’s previous musical experiences.

AUDITIONS

Auditions are held at 1 Gorham Street, Worcester, MA. All children and youth ages 8-18 (min 3rd grade) interested in joining the choir are required to audition. Complete the Audition Form to schedule your audition. We offer spring, late summer and January audition dates and will also happily audition on request. An audition with our directors is an encouraging, low-key experience and an opportunity to meet our artistic staff. They take great care to ensure that each singer is placed in the ensemble that best suits their ability level so they can sing, shine, and soar!

It is our mission to create a diverse and inclusive community where all children and teens who love to sing feel welcome and can thrive. We are proud to provide financial assistance to families in need. For all of our programs, we do not want cost to be a factor in a child’s participation. DA CAPO (GRADES 3, 4 & 5)

  • Thursdays 4:30 PM - 5:45 PM, 75 minutes (September – May)
  • Director: Philip Montgomery
  • Tuition: $700 Sept - May | $460 Mid-Season Rate
Da Capo is the WCC’s entry-level choir for children in Grades 3, 4 and 5. It is a friendly environment where each child develops healthy vocal habits, learns the basics of reading music, and strives toward professional-level performance. The Da Capo singers participate in 2-4 performances throughout the year. Previous musical experience encouraged but not required.

BEL CANTO (GRADES 6 - 8)

  • Tuesdays 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM, 90 minutes (September – May)
  • Directors: Pamela Mindell & Philip Montgomery
  • Tuition: $775 Sept - May | $510 Mid-Season Rate
The Bel Canto ensemble is for students in Grades 6 – 8 who demonstrate the ability to sing at an intermediate level or who have completed at least one year in the Da Capo choir or the equivalent. These singers build on their music literacy skills and continue to develop their individual voices. They also deepen their understanding of what it means to be part of a harmonious musical community that emphasizes teamwork and artistry at a high level. The Bel Canto singers participate in 3-6 performances throughout the year. Previous musical experience strongly encouraged but not required.

CANTARE (GRADES 9 - 12)

  • Tuesdays 7:00 PM (September – May)
  • Director: Pamela Mindell
  • Tuition: $850 Sept - May | $575 Mid-Season Rate
The Cantare ensemble is for students in High School who demonstrate a good deal of previous musical experience, a strong personal connection to music, and a commitment to rehearsing and performing challenging repertoire at a high level. Singers will develop their individual and choral vocal skills while mastering more difficult music across a variety of musical styles. The Cantare singers participate in 3-6 performances throughout the year. Previous musical experience is expected.

BARITONES / CHANGING VOICES

  • Pending minimum enrollment
  • Director: TBD
  • Tuition: $800 Sept - May | $585 Mid-Season Rate
The Baritone ensemble is open to students in Middle and High School who have changing voices. The changing voice is a developing instrument, and members will receive dedicated instruction on how to navigate this change. Singers are challenged to develop their individual and choral vocal skills while mastering more difficult musical repertoire across a variety of musical styles. The Baritones/Changing Voices singers participate in 3-6 performances throughout the year.

TOURING & TRAVEL

Fenway Park… London… NYC’s Carnegie Hall… Montreal… WCC singers have performed around the US and internationally. These wonderful trips allow singers ages 12 and up to explore new places and connect with broader musical communities here and abroad. Touring with WCC is an optional activity.

Whether it’s a trip to London or NYC, touring with WCC is a transformative experience. We hear again and again from parents that their children come back from a tour with WCC more mature, responsible, confident, and devoted to the choir.

Take-Your-Breath-Away Moments

Choristers enjoy singing under the direction of renowned conductors, meeting other passionate singers from around the world, spending time with friends, and experiencing the magical take-your-breath-away moments of singing with a large festival choir.
